Origin of the name Vico C
Puerto Rican Armando Lozada Cruz was born on the 8th of September in 1971 in New York, but grew up in Puerta Tierra in San Juan (Puerto Rico). That is where his stage name Vico C comes from, a name which he gave himself to honor his neighbor Doña Vica. "C" stands for his last name "Cruz".
Music debuts of Vico C
Vico C began his career as a rapper in 1984. At the beginning, he taped his first music efforts and then sold them to his friends and family. He earned 20 US dollars from his first production, which he distributed that way.
Singer's first success
His record "La Recta Final" brought him his first success in 1989, making him popular on an international level. Rap was very popular at that time in Puerto Rico. From that on, he was often on tour through all of America.

In 1992 Vico C could chalk up further success with his two new songs "Saboréalo" and "María", two singles that were awarded gold and platinum record, accordingly.

In 1994 Vico C, "El Filósofo", had a car accident on his tour through Dominican Republic, and, as a result, had to spend a long time in the hospital. At the same time, there were rumors alleging his drug abuse.
