Piña Colada

Piña Colada

Recipe (for ca.  4 people)

  • 400 ml Coconut milk
  • 600 ml Pineapple juice or 1.500 gr pineapple (the riper, the better)
  • 600 ml white rum
  • Crushed ice
  • Sugar

Preparation

  • When pineapple is used in addition to pineapple juice, peel it, wash it thoroughly and cut it in small pieces.
  • Stir well pineapple pieces or juice with a bit of coconut milk. Add rum and the rest of coconut milk.
  • Stir well all ingredients and add some sugar.
  • The cocktail looks especially good when served in a hollowed pineapple or a coconut shell. Otherwise serve it in a medium-sized glass and garnish with a slice of pineapple.

Things to know

  • A Puerto Rican bartender, Ramón Marrero, created this cocktail.
  • There are many variations of making this cocktail. However, it is important that all of them contain rum and pineapple juice that harmonize the other ingredients.  One may also add, for example, coconut rum, banana liquor or coconut cream.

Alcohol content: 15%
